"Hypolaïs polyglotte" was a soundinstallation in the Blinzelbar, presented 4.1. - 11.1. 2009.
The work of Manon Lafaye (aka Judith Haman) and Enrico Sinople (aka Heiner Metzger) used the speeches of neighbours and peoples who talked or performed from the top of the hight seats build up at the Grosse Bergstrasse in Hamburg nearby the Blinzelbar from june till december 2008 as part of the installation "Schonzeit".
The sound recordings of these speeches were processed electronically
and at the sound installation "Hypolaïs polyglotte" in three variants simultaneously played into the room. This video shows a short view of the two high seats, moved from the street into the Blinzelbar.
The "Blinzelbar"was an artist run space in Hamburg, Grosse Bergstrasse 156. In the beginning of 2009,
we had to move to the "Frappant"
building Grosse Bergstrasse 168, the former sale room of the "Karstadt" company.
The demolition of the "Frappant" building was supported by local politicans, except the left, to support the construction of the "Ikea" building at that place. Now, several years after the "Ikea" storehouse opening we can say, the gentrification of that neighbourhood didn't work.

In "the permeable ear" you can listen to the drain sounds of a dissecting table.
The table is located in the "Sektionssaal" of the "Medizinhistorisches Museum" in the "Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf".
The record was made at the 24.11.2014 in a quiet atmosphere.
You can listen to a continuous, nervous sound stream with some concrete moments,
when ambient noises were amplified at the location of the mics, nearly 30 cm below the drainage grid. The pictures used in the video are made of that dissecting table.

In 2007, the frappant building was complete empty.
Judith Haman and Heiner Metzger took advantage for a soundwalk through
the former big store flats (ex Karstadt).
The small piece of wood and yoghurt cups - the soundplow, was made by Heiner Metzger.
Followed by the camera, Judith pulled it with a string behind her to explore
the different sounds of the big space (ap. 8000 sqm).
Only the left audio channel was recorded,
with no chance to repair this mistake.
Actual the Frappant building is destroyed,
for ikea want build here a new shopping monster,
just in the middle of a vivid part of hamburg altona.
